Announcement

18 Aug

Over the past few years I have had a unusually sore and creeky right-hand thumb joint.
This has caused problems in Physical Education and with writing/texting/any activity that causes pressure on the joint.

Over 2007, the problem has worsened and I have visited specialists, doctors and hand therapists.
On my more recent appointment (where I had a splint molded), the hand therapist stated that it is a cyst growing on the joint. So it is not arthritis, but a ugly cyst thing.

I have done some research into this, and this is what I have discovered:

1. Cysts on the hand are called ganglion cysts.
2. “A ganglion cyst is a tumor or swelling on top of a joint” Source
3. The more common age group for this is 20-40, and the sex is usually women.
