The JB Diaries

30 Oct

Tonight Episode 2 aired – the episode that I’m in! It was awesome – how many people can say they shook Rhys Darby’s hand on TV? Well, probably not many at the moment BUT I can and you will be able to view it at tv3.co.nz until next week if you missed it.
In case you didn’t actually see me (which you did, you probably just couldn’t tell it was me) here’s what I looked like:

Celebrate.

They actually dressed me in that; and I ended up winning Best Dressed! Excellent. But I’ve already told that story somewhere around here, so I won’t do it again.
But it was awesome =D

Talkative much? Not really

27 Oct

Right now, I don’t have much to say.
It’s kinda that time of the year when we’re all suppoed to be revising and preparing for exams. I only have two exams coming up, English and Biology. Mocks were a bit of a wake up call and I’m working hard on both subjects to get even better grades than Achieved. Which is good – but I haven’t been revising as much as I should be. I mean, I have to work. I need to have some “me” time where I can just forget about the moral highground and do what I feel like – just relax!

About a week ago I cooked for Jessie & the family – Vegeterian Lasagna. There are no veges, it’s pretty much just sauce, cheese and pasta. But it’s very, very nice! Cooked it in Home Economics at school as part of my assessment. I don’t know if I’ve passed that yet.

I have more raving to do about Telecom. Sorry, but they seem to be doing a lot right at the moment (All I care about is branding and texting.) and today a revised text plan was leaked. Currently, I pay $18 a month to text any network, up to 1500 texts. This new plan costs $12 and is UNLIMITED texts to any network (fair use policy applies). WOW. That’s what the original $10 TXT plan was like! I can’t wait =D

So right. I’m going to go down a glass of L&P with Ginger and relax before school starts in the morning.
Catch ya later.

So the majority of you who know about this site and are reading this probably want to know why I scrapped kylesblog.co.nz.
It’s pretty simple:
I wanted to be able to write whatever I wanted; my own honest opinion without fear of sensorship because of the wide range of people who knew about my site. If I want to say school is crap for whatever reason, I want to be able to do that. I felt I couldn’t at the other address and I really just wanted something less “formal” and more rebellious. I didn’t like the feeling of being watched.

This is me as a teenager. This isn’t me as an actor or budding film director – this is me as I go though school and work and the world though my eyes. Here, I’m not trying to impress anybody.

You might notice I’ve changed the bio over there –>
and changed the header. I love how much less professional it looks.

So thanks anyway for coming back. I don’t want to sound harsh – but starting over feels GREAT =D

“It’s a powerful thing that you did”

21 Oct

Okay, so some people won’t be happy that I’m talking about this again but it’s not their blog so I don’t really care.

Do you remember when I told you about the students voting in assembly for all mufti proceeds to go to the charity?
Well, I heard a tale from a teacher this morning and I thought I’d share it on here:

Teacher A: When we first heard about it in the staff room, everyone’s heads turned and the first thing that came to our minds was “Oh yeah, how much is going to Samoa?”. It’s a very powerful thing that you did!

Wow – very, very cool. I made change. And I love it. Tomorrow is the big day – I think NPBHS deserve some press tomorrow about this. It could put them in a good light once again.

Telecom Light Show

19 Oct

On Saturday night I went with some mates to the Telecom Light Show in Auckland city – and I have to say it was very, very impressive!! The show was put on to launch Telecom’s new logo and was tastefully done. It was interactive, so people could go up to special “light boxes” where they could move and it would reflect on the Fairy Terminal building – ie. the building that was lit up for the light show.

Because you really had to be there, check out the video and photos below:

Outrageous Discussion

17 Oct

I’m a contributor to the Outrageous Fortune forum for awhile now, and I’ve been following a thread (which is about the Series 5 DVD) and I noticed my name was being thrown around a bit!
Looking closer, it appears that Antony Starr (Van/Jethro West) mentions “TuiKiwi” during the Episode 11 commentary!

How cool is that?!

I haven’t been able to buy the DVD yet so I haven’t “heard” it for myself, but it’s pretty awesome that the stars of the show know who I am! Other examples include Antonia Prebble (Loretta West) knows about TuiKiwi, and Craig Hall (Nicky Greegan), who “starred” with the TUIKIWI Beer can in Series 4!
I talked to Antonia last weekend at the Sione’s Wedding screening and Craig at the Show of Hands premiere last December.

One of the producers for Outrageous Fortune (and the Head of Drama for South Pacific Pictures) Simon Bennett had this to say:

Tuikiwi has had a beer brand on OF named after after him! He’s become a kind of brand in his own right!
-Pookina

Thanks Simon! I was stoked to read that comment!!! 😀

New Telecom Logo

16 Oct

Because I’m so-keen on marketing, I thought I’d do a post on the new Telecom logo that was launched at tonight’s light show here in Auckland!

New telecom logo

Any thoughts? I actually like it, compared to the ugly blockage-one we’ve just had to put up with the last six years!
