This is what I want to do.

29 Nov

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. And I know I ramble on about finally finishing and releasing Pure Modesty, but I am never actually satisfied with it. I just think it could be better.

I can’t do any better with any film project unless I do get a better camera. There’s just no way it works at the moment and thats why I am scrapping all the footage that we have already filmed for PM. The episodes will not be released. It’s just not worth it (and the quality is terrible).

If I can get a HD camera for christmas, or put into other words, have one for in January, then I will be jumping straight back into making films. I want to really make something that is clear, (dare I say it) classy and well polished. I don’t want low standards and I cannot see a future with the current 13-year old camera. Which is fair enough!

If I don’t get one for January (which is the only month of the year I can do a mass amount of film work), then film/TV will go on hold for a long time as I focus solely on Journalism.

So yeah.

Christmas Wishlist

27 Nov

HD video camera please.
that’s all.

It’s late.

19 Nov

For the record (well those who require it) i’m not talking periods.
I’m talking time wise. It’s 2.09am, Thursday 19 November. And there’s a chance that Ms Scott (esc) will shoot me when she realises what is set to go down at 9.30am this morning; NCEA Level 2 English exams!

Oh I am crazy. Yes I’ve stayed up revising. I know I know, last minute and all but for some strange reason, I find it somewhat satisfying to study the day/night before. I’m more…motovated. I have studied during the last few weeks of course but tonight was much more in detail. Just like yesterday morning; Jamie turned up at 9am sharp to kick me out of bed to revise for the biology exam I had later in the afternoon. And that was the best thing that could have happened, because I remembered a lot of stuff that we revised compared to what I did remember from previous revision periods! If that makes sense….but good on ya Jamie.

So I’ve covered everything in English over the last six hours. And I’ll be up at 8 (hey I need sleep too) to do a bit more before the examination at 9.30. And then school can be forgotten for ten weeks or so as it’s my last exam. I’m no Dux, but I do get the work done.

Anyway. Night. And good luck if you are doing the same exam.

Pure Modesty Series

17 Nov

Just a quick note – we will be continuing with Pure Modesty, with episodes 2,3 and 4 being released in January 2010 (we’re going to make a night of it).

Ep 4 will be the season final and will be in HD! =]

When life was simple

17 Nov

Not too long ago, classes were small and we’d sit on the mat while the teacher sat next to a mini-whiteboard setup “ie. teachers station” drawing with markers and making sure everyone had their legs crossed. Mrs. Rankine was annoyed at me in the begining – I had never crossed my legs while sitting and I wasn’t about to start now! Eventually I got the hang of it – I just wasn’t used to it and would rather have sat or laid down, in a straight line.

Not too long ago, we’d listen to cassette tapes or radio, in little tape players made from colourful plastic with a little mic attached. Some even sang along to the music with the mic! The tapes would either have the coolest bands (‘NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Five, Spice Girls..) or nursery rhymes and stories (Georgie Porgy….etc). We’d also have cakes of soap – liquid soap was rare and strange, you’d question whether it actually cleaned your hands or not!!

Not too long ago, most of the kids were innocent and got along; there were no jocks or emos, no one was ever nasty. There were playground fights, but this was usually over who “owned the bars” or who could “dance with Alicia at the disco”. We all wanted to be policemen and fire fighters, or maybe even teachers.

It seems like it wasn’t too long ago, but in reality all of this was about 10-12 years ago. Crazy. How did we grow up so fast?! Everyone’s out going to parties and getting drunk and whatever. When I was about 8, I used to think life was slow and really wanted to be a teenager because it seemed like it so much better. And it is; but I can’t help but miss some of the simple things you know? Not having to worry about money and exams and social stuff was great. And mostly, everyone got along and was mates. Now everyone’s grouped up and you never talk to the higher groups. Well, you might occasionally but that’s only when they want to copy your homework or whatever.

One year of school left. And I bet in 10 years time, again I’ll look back and think life was more simple now. In 50 years, I’ll be complaining to my kids about how we once had cellphones and iPods, and the internet – they’ll probably have chips in their heads and being silly old buggers we would never go along with that and would perter the old-fashioned methods (mobile phone).

Hmmm. Life is short.

School 2009 – over

12 Nov

I don’t know what it was, but there was something sad about finishing school this year. I’m not leaving or anything, but there was just something that made it seem sadder than last year! Maybe it’s because we’re one step closer to the real word? Our final year at school?

Or maybe it was because i’ve finished Home Economics forever. That sucks – the teachers decided not to go ahead with a year 13 course because not enough students do the course. But it wasn’t until the final day that they realised all of their year 12 students would have really been keen on continuing the subject! Oh well. It was sad anyways.

There’s some really cool stuff happening at school next year. We’re having a stage production with Girl’s High school, we got a new head boy (I was never a fan of Tennant) and well, it’s the final year! It’s funny when I see Mr. Mac around school, because he’s always like “Make sure you add this good news on your blog” hahaha. It’s going to be our inside joke forever! Im cool with that though.

There’s a guy at our school who got appointed in a high position – he can be very indulged in his own self-importance and this was clearly demonstrated last night. Sometimes I just want to remind him that if someone else ran for the position, he wouldn’t have gotten it (as he got it by defult; no one else ran). It kinda annoys me, the type of person who is power-hungry and sees them self as the sort of person that other’s can’t live without. The type of person who literally push politics + religion down your throat and their option must be honoured as it is always right. Sorry but I really had to get that off my chest.

Umm what else? NCEA exams start next week (and finish for me next week) which is…..well I don’t know what it is, but I can’t wait until they’re over! I’ve already passed Level 2 though. Just need to get credits for English and Biology so I can take them next year.

But enough about school – Pure Modesty Episodes 3 + 4 are being filmed this and next month! Very expensive episodes too. Episode 4 will be the Series 1 finale. Yeah it’s short – but you’ll see why. I’m working on filming them in HD. Special guests in these episodes include past + present teachers from NPBHS.
