TuiKiwi and Outrageous Fortune

30 Mar

Outrageous Fortune just finished filming the final season and throughout the entire series, there have been numerous links to TuiKiwi! Who else can say that they have had their name connected with New Zealand’s most popular show?

First up was TUIKIWI Beer!
The green can of premium quality beer was first spotted in Episode 18 of Season 4, where Wolf barges into Nicky’s apartment to warn him he’d better not hurt Pascalle. Nicky offers him a beer, placing it on the counter. There is a closeup and bam – plain for all to see, is “TUIKIWI”.

Judd suggested calling Loretta’s baby “Tui” – which could refrence the fact that online, people often call me Tui instead of TuiKiwi for short.

The official drinking quiz in the Outrageous Fortune book “The West Family Album” also references TUIKIWI Beer. Question 82 asks what other brand of beer has featured on the show, with the answer being “Tui Kiwi” =D

Audio Commentaries
over selected episodes are popular DVD features, especially on the Series 5 DVD. Episode 11 has a commentary by Simon Bennett (Producer) and Antony Starr (Van/Jethro West). Antony believes TuiKiwi to be the show’s biggest fan =D

When I met Antonia Prebble (Loretta West), she knew the “TuiKiwi” name as soon as I breifly mentioned it. Craig Hall (Nicky Greegan) knew exactly who I was when I told him I was “Kyle Wadsworth” at the Show of Hands premiere.

In forum discussion about the commentary, Simon Bennett (Producer) has this to say about TuiKiwi:

Tuikiwi has had a beer brand on OF named after after him! He’s become a kind of brand in his own right!

Correction: Three Months

30 Mar

Just a correction from yesterday’s post: I have actually been here two months, not three. But to be fair, I first came up on Janurary 1st and stayed for two weeks, before moving on the 30th.

Three Months in Hamilton

29 Mar

Tomorrow marks three months since I moved to Hamilton!
It’s a weird feeling because it feels like I have lived here for much longer than that, but it also feels like I only left New Plymouth yesterday. I did plan on going back over the school holidays but I have so much going on (and plus I couldn’t get time off work) so I’ll try to make it another time! But happy birthday to both Dad and Jeremy who will be celebrating their birthdays during April – yay =)

I’ve been working slowly on a new film project called Milliwood. It’s based on Kim (my flatmate) who is just the funniest person ever. I’ve got everyone sorted I just need to sit down with Kim and go over a plan for maybe three episodes? I think that’s enough for a TuiKiwi Production series anyway. In any case, it’s going to be FANTASTIC! I still want to do another episode of Pure Modesty too.

Oooh – Dad just texted me this morning saying there was a package waiting for me at the school office. My first thought was “Did he mean to send this to Jeremy?” because Mum & Dad aren’t linked to my school file here (well they are now as I did it today), so they wouldn’t know if there was something here for me! Then I thought Dad sent something to the school. Turns out, he was actually waiting there for me! That was a awesome surprise!! We went for a drive to my place and then to Chartwell to grab some lunch. It was a short meeting – but it was so good to see Dad again =)

School’s going well. I’ve got this media assignment which is putting a bit of pressure on me but I’ve got until Term 2 so I’m not panicing – yet. English is good and I’m enjoying Legal Studies and Psychology – and speaking of, I have an assessment for that tomorrow! Hm. I was up until 2am with Kim studying for that!
Despite thinking Fairfield College would be a rough school (granted the school does not have the resources and money NPBHS does), I’ve learnt a lot from the teachers who are so down to earth and I’m in with a great bunch of students! Sigourney is one of my best friends here and I will have to post a photo of us on here sometime! Have to make special mentions here of Logie, Logan and Kath too πŸ˜›

Anyway, I’m at school now so should go and do somework! Make sure you add me on Facebook (if you know me personally) and/or follow my twitter account: nztk is my username.

Cya! =D

Happy St Patricks Day!

17 Mar

It’s the 17th of march 2010 – St Patricks Day!
Things are going well here in Hamilton. I’m working on a new production called Milliwood – which I can’t wait to start filming but I have to admit there are some things that are just strange because none of my usual crew are here! No Dad, no Sheree, no Ryan, no Jamie – but Ethan Wilkins (who I worked with at Zieland and on Pure Modesty) is keen to come down from Auckland to be our camera man which will be awesome! But it is weird not having those people around anymore. When I return to New Plymouth, I’m hoping we’ll be back together to film Pure Modesty 2 which will be quite exciting =D

I just handed over my NPBHS Gateway file (which has CV, news articles, STAR courses I did etc) to Fairfield College Gateway – and wow they were impressed! I was just asked to sign the secretery’s diary haha!

At the moment, I’m in the process of setting up a youth blog with the head boy of the school. It’s a really cool project which I’ll be able to tell you more about later on, but it’s got me back into blogging which is good! Everything’s setteled down which is good and i have more time for this sort of thing. Plus Dad keeps bugging me to blog πŸ˜›

As the bell’s about to go, I need to head out but I should be back within the next few days =D
